Like many Washington DC area suburbs, Chevy Chase, Maryland is an unincorporated area. Unlike many other suburbs, it is really two “locations”. Because it straddles the D.C. line, there is a Chevy Chase DC (zip code 20815) and a Chevy Chase MD (20015). Chevy Chase Maryland (adjacent too Bethesda), homes and lots tend to be larger with some estate-like mansions. Having said this, there are exceptions to the generalization on both sides of the D.C.

Both Chevy Chase DC and Chevy Chase Md offer a considerable amount of charm and both have residential areas that abut commercial districts. In true urban village fashion, both neighborhoods offer opportunity where you can walk to shopping and restaurants and have quick access to public transportation. This is especially true of the Connecticut Avenue corridor in D.C. and the Friendship Heights neighborhood (which actually is in both Maryland and DC along the Wisconsin Avenue corridor). One of Chevy Chase Maryland’s claim to fame is what is lovingly called The Rodeo Drive of the East — a newly constructed shopping area in Friendship Heights with high end boutiques and great eateries.
